initial ideas

- intergenerational friendship (white man and racially ambiguous young girl- perhaps a refugee?)
- going about their day- showing the difference in their lives and the divide
- in the end they form a friendship and find common ground
- no dialogue - or very little
- set in a public place, like a park or a waiting room

 - the fragility of human egos.

SCENE IDEA 1)

- centred around a dance, two people wearing happy masks performing a mirrored dance.
- they wear neutral nothing and there is a big focus on this. these two people are supposed to look as though they are the same.
- They are dancing in a park- a public place, no biases.
- Throughout the film it cuts back to the two people dancing

 SCENE IDEA 2)

- One of the characters scrolls down a social media feed.
- The people in the pictures are wearing brands and they are in luxury hotels showing off luxury holidays.
- They all wear the happy masks. 
- We see the character put on her own mask. 

3)

- A group of people talking and laughing
- They wear happy masks, they look like they are having fun
- There is sad music behind it giving it an undertone that they are covering up sadness and struggles for the sake of not looking weak
- There is a shot of each of them alone taking off their masks, underneath is a different story.

Ext. a children's playground

Two people wearing masks and the same neutral, unbranded clothes face each other. Nuit 17 a 52 by Christine and the Queens starts playing, and they begin a choreographed lyrical dance, they mirror eachother.

int. a girl's bedroom

The bedroom is 'typical' and trendy, nothing is sentimental, there are no pictures or artwork on the walls. The girl scrolls through social media, all of the people in the pictures are wearing masks.

int. a living room

The girl stands in the corner of the drab room and there is a man sat in the chair, you can't see his face but his hand drops down from the chair and in it is a beer bottle, he is surrounded by empty bottles. The empty bottle drops and shatters spraying glass everywhere. The girl puts on a mask of her own and she can be seen leaving the house.

int. a living room

The room is full of photos of a happy, nuclear family. The news is playing on the television and a story about teen suicide starts to play.

news reader:

Studies say there has been a rise in teen suicide this year by almost 20%, experts believe the kinds of pressures put on teens and social media is causing this significant increase.

The living room remains empty and dark, it seems unhomely and unloved.
